Judgment Against Me

I recieved a bill from a collections agency for doctor's bills. They say they have a judgment against me and can attach my wages. This is from December of 1998 according to my credit report. I went to this doctor but have never heard anything until now. I moved from previous residence shortly before December of 1998. They say that they served me at my father's address but he says he was never served. I asked via the phone for proof of the debt and they told me they didn't have to because it was so old. I then sent them a letter demanding proof. What other recourse do I have? Should I settle? Thanks. Marcus
