I finally did receive a copy of the letter that the original creditor supposedly sent me.

It did mispell my first name on the document, but I'm not sure if that makes any difference. Now that I see the letter, I remember what it is for an auto that I sold to someone and I think that I forgot to send in the "seller's report of sale" and the person striped it and then abandoned it. I really don't feel like paying this because I think I remember trying to contact the tow company back then and them not letting me sign over the car so that the storage charges would stop until I had paid the bill (up to that point) in full.

Any advice on how to negotiate a (hopefully much reduced) settlement?

How do I know whether this is a judgement?
