Linda,
The 90 days I referred to is the 90 days from the time they ( First Select ) received my reply to them. As I understand the law, if they make a false statement about my account and I write them back and contest it, they have 30 days to acknowledge receipt of my letter and no more than 90 days to make correction or explain why they believe they are right. In my case, they never acknowledged receipt and they never replied.
As far as who is collecting for who, First Select Corporation is the " in-house " collector for Providian National Bank....Providian owns First Select.
Providian still owns the account, according to their latest letter from an attorney who says he is acting as a collector. His letter states I have 30 days to contact Providian and make arrangements or he starts working a judgement against me.
Just for additional info, First Select (Providian) made a promise to work with me and they also said they were willing to help, yet they never replied to my reply. Can they lie like that without being punished ?
