Notifying creditors of a death

I am the executor of my father's estate, which is relatively nothing. I attend to notify his creditors ASAP. My question is, does the copy of the death certificate required to be certified or can I just send a plan photocopy? I was thinking of sending the photocopy and allowing the credit agency to request a certified one if required. Thank you.
