I have a $10,000 debt with a credit card, but have not been able to pay for over a year because of financial hardships. It's so bad that I sometimes don't even have money to take my kids to the doctor! The account was first sent to a collection agency, but now I'm getting letters and calls from an attorney's office threatening to sue. I'm scared of what can happen. They won't accept any payment lower than $300. What actions can they take against me? I was able to pay of and close other accounts because they accepted lower payments, but not this one!
