What is the judgment for? Was it a car loan on the vehicle you are concerned about?

In Virginia, you can be sued for a in civil court and if you don't show up, you lose by default, and the other party gets a judgment against you.

However, if you didn't know about it at all, that means you were never served, and if you were never served you can have the judgment vacated. You can contact the court where the case was heard, and ask for copies of the file.
