Can somebody please tell me...

What in the world may be going on with my credit.I have a total of 3 things listed on my credit report all are shown "paid" I went across the board to all 3 CRA's and had obsolete information removed.
Still I can not get approved for a credit card. I have a job and a secured card that shows I am paying as agreed.I have never had a repossession or a bankruptcy.So please can someone offer any insights as to what I can do next to get my credit up and running.My fiance has a bankrutcy and has numerous things still outstanding and unpaid on his report and he can get every card he wants.. Please Advise Thanks
