Lawyer Hired By Collection Agency

Had a credit card with MBNA go to collections this June. They sold my acct to Collect America who in turn hired a lawyer. Lawyer never told me she was collecting for C.A.,when I thought she was collecting for MBNA. I agreed to pay debt only to MBNA. I'm in Texas and she is in San Diego. Can they still sue me? garnish wages? Debt is 6500.00.
