I have a student loan (since 1996) that has been paid off (never late) 5yrs I have another student loan ($6500 bal remains) that I am currently still paying that was reported 30 days late 3yrs ago, but never late since then. Account open since 1996. I have two credit cards in which i owe <100$ on each that are in good standing (never late). Unfortunately, I have only had one card for 1 yr and the other for 2yrs. Make about 55K/year and planning on putting a dwn pymt of 5K towards price of car. Only other debt is rent (850/month). Good rental history - not sure if this matters when car financing. Linda, you mentioned my might being able to get financing prior to vehicle shopping. I was thinking of applying to an online auto-financing site, just wasn't sure of my chances.
