Linda is exactlly correct. They way you dispute them is simply send a written letter to all 3 credit bureau's, asking them to dispute the validity of the debt shown on your credit reports, on the basis of the 7 year rule listed in the Fair Credit Reporting Act. They will immediately contact your potential creditors and ask them to verify that this debt to see if it still belongs there. In any case,after 30 days, the credit bureau's must either remove it or update it from the information from the original creditor.
