Alex,

So the charge off fell off your credit report, you didn't pay it. The first question that I would ask myself is, when was the last payment sent for this account? From that point, count off 4 years from that date(CA Statute of Limitations for a Written contract)of your last payment to that specific account. If the date between your last payment, and today's current date exceeds 4 years, the collection agency(or the original creditor)has no legal recourse, based on the Statutes of Limitations in CA. You can either write the collection agency and demand that they cease collection efforts, or you can simply write a letter to them saying that the Statutes of Limitations has expired on this account. As a former collection agent, I ASSURE YOU, THEY WILL CHANGE THEIR TONE! Good Luck
