CC fraud investigation (length of time?)

I had two fraudulent charges on a Providian MC in July. One was cleared a few weeks ago, however the other remains and when I try to contact the fraud investigator they assigned to us all I get is voice mail--and messages are never returned. Is there a time limit for this type of investigation?
