to board admin: re archiving each month's messages

Hi, Someone posted a message late on Sept 30th. I tried to answer it, and my answer just disappeared. I have looked back through the other monthly archives, and there are several messages that went unanswered because they were right at the end of the month. Is there any way to fix this so those messages can be seen and responded to? Also, often there is an ongoing discussion that gets completely cut off by the archiving of messages each month.
