No, they can't charge them off way after the fact, and then report them that way in your credit file. They are using this to redate the delinquency, and keep it on your report longer than allowed. Dispute these as "discharged in bk." Reported correctly, they will come off when the 7 years is up. The bk comes off 10 yrs from date of discharge.

The credit bureaus will likely tell you to send them copies of your bk filing. I wouldn't do that (some people do). I would tackle it from both ends - dispute with the original creditor and the credit bureau at the same time. If you do decide to send them a copy of the bk (that is the path of least resistance), black out all the other accounts, because you don't ever want to give them information they don't already have. Keep good records. If they repeatedly refuse to change it, contact your attorney.

You can also file complaints with the FTC, the BBB, and your state's attorney general or consumer protection agency.
