I KNOW I GOT SCREWED...Long, but please read

Long and short is what I said above.
Now what if anything....
Facts....
I moved out of house, (rent) Landlord is abusive, hostile, and sweetest looking, crook ...wife is paralegal. I stayed well past my lease 1 yr because he was going to sell it to me, when he sort of figured I knew why his lease read the way it did, I was responsible for all plumbing, he figured he couldn't sell for what he normally screws people out of...Plumbing was about to bust all over the house.
So,He served me 3 day notice...I left..within the time agreed...he sued me for damages....after intimidating me for the last time, I never went back to get all of my stuff, so he not only sued me, but kept thousands of dollars worth of my stuff. The house was not damaged.in fact what he sued me for was what HE AGREED TO FIX for one year. HE WON HOWEVER. I put MONEY ON TOP OF MONEY in that house.I was going to buy it.My question. is this. The first judge took in small claims court...told him he would have a time proving any of what he said I did. he had pictures. I have never nor was I asked to see the pictures.We went to higher level of court. This judge, after finding out that my landlord had filed a police report for damages called to find out if I had a warrant. I did not. Court proceeded. I am at this point ( devestated beyond belief) Judge looked at the pictures. My gosh he said...The only question asked was..did you steal the light fixtures? No, I said. he granted him the money. My question is this. I know I preserved the errors of the judge. I know as well that if my hunch is correct...the landlord filed his homeowners insurance and received money for what he considers damages by ......(me) I know that this is what that was about. My landlord told me after court..." Look, don't you think If I really thought you did that to the house, I would have proceeded with the police investigation...)How do I find out if insurance paid. THis man and wife are notorious for many, many many of the above incidences...they run a property management business, they own these homes. I am not the first, I know....He told the judge he put new carpet in, he did not, because the tenant before me.....dah, dah, dah..the judgement is over 5000. I am broke, I have rescued my mother out of state so she could live. SHe is a domestic violence victim...she is alive and everyting, I had, and she had went to him...THe year I lived at this house, I was trying to protect my mother. He knew all of this....I feel so very betrayed.
ANy thoughts are greatly appreciated...
