In 1991, I was diagnosed with bone cancer and had metastases to my lungs in 1995 and again in 1997. I went through courses of chemotherapy three times. I was unable to work for 6 years. I lived on social security disability, and barely got by, but hung on to my house. My credit went from excellent to just the opposite with lots of collections. One bank that I had a credit line with never let up and even though they knew exactly what dire straits I was in they continued to call and filed for and got a judgment against me in Pennsylvania. I was living in Florida and it was a Pennsylvania bank. When I moved from Florida and got a job in Washington state last year I learned of this judgment when applying for a mortgage. I never received notice of the court action in PA. Yesterday morning I found out that all of my money in my bank account (total of about $11,000) has a writ/levy against it and I have seven dollars in my wallet. The bank could not get anyone in the levy department yesterday because it was Saturday and due to the holiday tomorrow, I must wait until Tuesday morning to find out more. They did say that it could be the IRS, child support action (I ruled both out) or a Judgment that is against me. It can only be the latter. I'm devastated and have been crying nonstop for 48 hours. Please, if someone out there can shed some light on all of this, I would greatly appreciate it, because I really need help now. Thanks.
