I had a foncard with sprint 7 years ago. From my recollection I paid it off. I never got any more bills from them either. I have had good credit all the past years and have had no worries. About a year ago I requested my credit report and noticed I had a collection acct with gulfstate. I was amazed. I called the phone number on it and it didn't work. This still didn't affect my status so I thought it was just a mistake. Then this past july my credit cards uped my rates saying I owed money to someone and I was late. I got my credit report again and they had reported me. I finally found a number on the internet and called them. They say I owe the money but they have no proof. They say they sent me a letter a year ago and I never received it. Now they want me to pay and also they have screwed up my credit. Sprint says they don't keep those bills on file I have to go to court and sue them to get proof. What should I do? I don't think its right that I had no idea I owed money for almost 7yrs and now I do and its screwed my credit.
