I had judgments against me when I filed bk 7 in 1990. They all disappeared when the bk disappeared. You said you are in FL, you were quoting Washington laws - where is the lawyer? In FL? How long ago was the judgment granted? Are you being garnished or anything?

The judgment does not stay on your credit report past the normal reporting time, and as a matter of fact, when I tried to get the court record recently, it had been archived, and they couldn't find it.

I think JJ is right that this lawyer doesn't want this. I don't think this lawyer wants to help you at all. Talk to a consumer oriented lawyer and see if you qualify to file bk in the first place. Lawyers have their own biases, and some are not interested in helping people who don't want to pay their bills.

If you don't bk it, and don't pay it, and can't get it vacated, then it will report until the SOL is up. And in most states judgments can be renewed.

Look in your phonebook for lawyers who list bankruptcy in their ad, but don't call the big "legal clinics" that do all the advertising. And see if you really qualify for bk.

Don't just say you want to bk that judgment, say you can't pay everything.
