SOL - Linda

I had a credit card account that closed in 1993. I was recently contacted by a company attempting (in a very threatening manner) to collect a charged off balance. I assume from the text of your earlier postings that if I wish to deny payment, I may employ a SOL defense. However, I am unclear about several things. According to FCRA, "Credit reporting agencies [are required]to exclude from consumer reports adverse credit records more than seven years old (ten years for bankruptcies.)"

Is this collection company likely to damage my credit report? If so, doesn't this contradict the above requirement?

Many Thanks,

Mike
