If they renew that judgment you are in big trouble. You current credit card companies will raise your interest rate, close your account with a balance on it and declare you in default (it's in your agreement). Try to settle with them. BEFORE YOU PAY THEM ANYTHING make them put it in writing that they will not try to collect the balance, they will not sell it to another agency and they will not report anything to the credit bureaus. If they do, sue them.

If the collection agency tries to put this on your credit report without a renewed judgment they are breaking the law.
