attaching bank account w/pension &ss

I was reading "judgement from credit card" where they attached a joint account for a credit card debt....I was served with a complaint on contract and have 23 days to answer....my attorney said let it go and as she is filing bankruptcy in Jan. for us, she will take it off in bankruptcy. This scares me....can they attach my bank account between now & Jan? We only have direct deposit of penion & ss.Should I answer this within the 23 days myself? Should I file a continuance? Helpppppppppp
