Help with old CC in MS

Help-
today I received a letter from Asset Acquisition Group Inc, that they bought an old debt of mine to Bank One. I last made a payment on this account in the summer of 1997( pretty sure it was in July) At that time they told me the account was moved to collections and I had to pay it in full immediately. I did not. And I have not heard anything since until today. I live in Mississippi and the SOL for open accounts is 3 years. The letter states that if I do not contact them within 30 days, "they will pursue whatever collection alternatives are avaliable to us under the Laws of your State" What are my options with this matter. From my understanding, since the Account is past the 3 year SOL they can't file a lawsuit against me. But they can report it to credit agencys for a few more years. Am I correct that they can't come after me? TIA
