Accounts listed as Collection Accounts Unpaid.

There are 3 accounts listed on my credit report as "Collection Account/CN: (original creditor) UNPAID". For each of these entries the Account Name is listed as "Account Name Unknown". The thing is the open dates range from 04-95 to 09-95, and this is the first I have heard that they were actually sent out for collections. I was never contacted by a collection agency regarding any of these accounts. The original balances on the accounts were $73 to $220. I am trying to get credit now and these show up. I don't know who has the accounts or anything. How do I deal with this? Is there some time limit on how long a collection agency has to contact you?
