This is interesting... my fiance is having problems with a Sears account that is 13 years old and not even his (ex-wife's, which he was never "joint" on that account). Problem with this is, I don't know about anyone else, but in our area apartment complexes REQUIRE you let them run a credit check on you.. or you wont get an apartment. As it is, they charge huge fees (IMO) for doing this and often turn you down, which is the case with him. How can a person avoid accessing their credit if they are forced to do so just to find a place to live? It's bad enough that you could easily go through $200 in one day alone for "fees" just to rent an apartment, then to have collection companies, etc., swooping down on you at the first smell of blood.

Is there no hope for us? It all looks so bleak, especially after just coming off from a 5 week layoff.

Anyone have a ray of light/hope out there? Is the SOL up simply because he tried to rent an apartment?
