late posting

I attended a banquet in Las Vegas on 10/07/01. My credit card was used to pay the bill. The charges were posted on 10/09. On 11/14 the hotel posted additional charges to my card. They said they had added incorrectly and I owed an additional 165.00. The clerk apologized saying they were extremely short staffed and just noticed it. I have checked the charges and they did miscalculate. My question is how late can they come back and post. It was over a month. Do I have any right here and if I question it what will it do to my credit?
