lost check

I wrote a check a few months ago for car repair service. A few days ago the car place called and told me they lost the deposit for that day and need me to come in and write them a new check. I feel like it is their fault they lost the deposit and I should not have to pay the 25.00 stop payment fee and take off work to give them a new one. I did nothing wrong. I did not bounce the check or anything. Do I legally have to pay.
