Suing the credit reporting agencies

Linda,

I have read several of your posts and wanted to comment on the good advice you are providing to people with real problems. What does it say about our society that so many people don't have the facts about debt, and are not taught in school how to handle money, budgets, etc.

My situation is I am sick and tired of the "big three" credit reporting agencies inaccuracies. I am talking about their reporting I have three jumbo mortgages on my home (THAT would be a cute trick). So, my FICO score is worse than it needs to be. They show reposessions for auto loans, when there was no repo, open balances for accounts closed years ago with no balance. I have tried for several years to get them to change their reports, but they simply send back a form letter saying "the information is correct."

Regarding the bank mortgage, is seems the bank never filed the paperwork with them when the loan was paid. Since this was years ago, the people at the bank are clueless, yet I get the negative credit report.

So, since these agencies are selling this information on me and making a nice profit, since they can't get it right, and won't fix it, perhaps there are class action suits I can join. Do you know of any class action suits? Has anyone ever won a lawsuit against these agencies?

Or, would anyone be interested to establish a class action suit? In my particular case I can point to specific damages due to errors, and I am sure there are many others out there with similar problems.

I would appreciate your comments.
Thanks.
