AR doesn't hurt you, but, I am wondering, are you sure you don't have a card that is issued by Associates, and just don't realize it? They issue cards for most of the gas companies - BP/Amoco, Shell/Texaco, and Citgo. If not, I wouldn't worry about it. If it was somebody you couldn't recognize, then it would be worrisome.

What happened with the car dealer is standard procedure. You're lucky you didn't get 10 inquiries, LOL. It's better to have your financing lined up before you go, but if you're taking those 0% deals from the manufacturer, you don't have much choice. Fair Isaac claims that the FICO scoring model "recognizes" shopping for rates - yea right!
