What happened is that another check I deposited into my account, came back NSF about 10-15 days after I wrote the payoff check to my car loan institution. They must have done an initial check to see if it would clear, which it would have early on, because they went ahead and sent me a letter saying, thanks for your business, your loan is payed off, here is your title.

Now they finally caught there mistake several months later and want their money. Do I have any rights here? It seems even if the loan were declared paid off, they could still sue me for the NSF check amount of 6,000, plus fees, etc. Could I possibly bargain, like saying I'll pay half of it?
