Why not tell them that since they made a mistake maybe you made one too and if they would be willing to reopen the account you would be willinng to pay it.

After all, the positive tradeline has to be worth something and the option to make regular payments to the account would be helpful to you.

If their billing department is now up to speed and they can get it right why not give them a second chance if they are willing to give you one in return?
