If I were in your shoes, I would file bk. Actually, I have been there, what I did as far as getting an apratment was rent from individuals, rather than from large apartment complexes. Individuals almost never check credit reports. If you have a reference from your previous landlord, and the potential landlord likes you, you don't have to worry about credit reports at all.
