About a year and half ago I decided to take a course from a online school. The plan involved sending monthly payments while I took the course. After about three months I decided the coursework was rediculous and decided that it would not be beneficial to me in any way. The school said I was locked into the agreement and whe I quit making payments had my account referred to NCC Northeast for collection. NCC sent me a letter demanding full payment or payment of $166.00 to opt out of the agreement. I called them several times requesting a copy of my supposedly signed agreement in which I supposedly agreed to this $166 charge. They claimed they have my signed copy but will not send it to me - I cannot remember signing it. I just got another letter stating that since I have never contacted NCC (I have called them and spoke with the same woman 3 times) that they have contacted TRW, Equifax, and Experian and ruined my credit. They also claim that I have 5 days before they deliver my account "to the appropriate district justice for civil judgement." My question is whether or not I am being strongarmed as they refuse to send me the supposedly signed agreement and now are threatening to sue me. Any advice? Thanks and Merry Xmas!
