We opened three accounts with Capial One in 1996 to
re-establish our credit after BK. One was secured and
the other two were not. The cards had very small credit
limits on them. We were making our payments on time,
when statements stopped arrving at our house. (May 1997) We notified Capital One verbally and written.
They said they would investigate and send out copies of
the missing statements. We received nothing except phone calls telling us that our account was deliquent.
We would over and over again explain the situation to the customer rep and again they would tell us that they were going to investigate it. The next
thing we knew our accounts were over the limit and
we were being charged late fees and over the limit fees. We could not dispute the charges because we did
not have a recent statement. A few months ago they sent
us a pre-approved credit card letter if we transfered
the charged off balance (which was 5x's the card limit) to the new card. We ignored the offer. Any advice on how to resolve this? We are trying to clean up our credit.
