I do not reccomend "giving up" your rental property as JJ suggests. Negative equity in real estate is not like being upside down on a car loan. You should hold on to your real estate as long as you are at least breaking even on the rental. Property ownership,with increased value every year higherthan the inflation rate, is the best way to get ahead of the curve.
