Well, I finally got through to these people- the guy was totally rude. He told me that my check was denied due to lack of activity/history on my account or on my drivers license info (I have been in the same state with the same account for over three years). I said, well of course if you never bounce a check, you don't have a history on me. So how do I make sure this doesn't happen again? He responds, "there is a 50/50 chance of denial each time I write a check at a store that uses Equifax/certegy check services. " I then asked to see my "consumer report" he responds, I will send a letter giving you the same information I have given you over the phone. I say, "no, I want to see my whole report- which should include any and all information you have on me." He responds that the letter with reason for denial is the only information they will send. Well, I am not satisfied with this and I don't feel like I really got any answers...but I will wait to see what I get in the mail. Still suscipious about the connection betwee Equifax credit reporting and Certegy check guarantee- if they share information, I should be entitled to know that.
