I have been harassed and I have filed complaint after complaint, and btw, they are attempting to collect 5 times more than what I owe, and they will place it on your credit every 5 years..forever if they want to !!. SO, here is how you can stop them
Write a CEASE AND DESIST LETTER TO THEM.
ADDRESS IT TO GULF STATE CREDIT
here is a sample letter
You are hereby notified under the provisions of the Public Lwas of 95-109 and 99-361, also known as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, that your services are no longer desired in this matter.
1. You and your organization must CEASE AND DESIST all attempts to collect the above debt. Failure to comply will result in my immediantly filling a complaint with the Federal Trade Commisson and this state's Attorney General's office. I will Pursue all criminal and civil claims against your company.
2. Furthermore if any negative information is placed on my credit bureau reports by your agency after reciept of this notice, this will cause me to file suit against youand your organization both personally and professionally and corporately, to seek any and all legal remedies available to me by law. Since it is my policy neither to recognize nor deal with collection agaencies, I intend to settle my account with the original creditors.
