My story

In the interest of putting a definitive record out here on a number of points, I'm going to relate my experiences as they happen. I was recently served with papers in Iowa. The dead account is from Citibank and the agency is Liberty Credit in Minnesota. They contacted me by phone about a year ago, at work, threatening garnishment and such. I sent them a certified letter asking for proof of the debt and to my knowledge, they never responded.

Should I take this to court on my own? I believe they have manipulated the delinquency date so it still fits withing the SOL. That assumes that credit cards are open agreements, and a 5 year SOL in Iowa.

Any advice? I considered going to a lawyer, but the only one I've spoken with so far wants $200 for an initial consultation.
