Statute of limitations affected by move?

I understand the statute of limitations for a creditor filing a suit to collect under a written contract but is based on state law. However, if the borrower moves to a different state does that alter the statute of limitations? For example, if the borrower moves from California to Mississippi before any lawsuit is filed is the creditor entitled to still file suit in California? Can they file in Mississippi and invoke the California statute of limitations?

Thanks
