I was in banking for 3 1/2 years and you can set up your credit card to cover overdrafts to your debit /atm card BUT not the other way around. You would have agreed to this when you got the cards, if not them NO they cannot do it. Read your papers when you got the cards, I am sure they might not have told you everything in the fine print, they think it is your responsability to read the whole document. But as far as I know, it is a option that should have been presented to you to cover your checking account from going into the negative and you sign for that service..it's not verbal.
