Each time a collection agency gets one of these debts, just send the a "Cease" letter. There is one at my yahoo site http://briefcase.yahoo.com/serenitybreeze

Write in a paragraph of your own that you are aware the debt is "stale" (that means the statute of limitations is up), and you have no intention of paying anyone. That should do it. The other advice you got is accurate IMO.
