I AM SO LOST

Ok, I am so confused now. From everything I've read, the statue of limitations in North Carolina is somewhere between 3 - 8 years depending on what site you visit. My credit cards went deliquent back in '93-94. I may have paid a payment or so when it first was sent to an outside agency, but that would be all. According to my understanding of the Fair Credit Law, the statue time frame should begin 180 days after you become and stay deliquent. The time frame doesn't change whether you're account is sold over and over. Is this true? I have not looked at my report and won't until I'm sure the seven years are up so I can try to repair it, but I don't want people calling me until I can be certain the limitation period is up. What do I do if when I look at my record, everytime my accounts were sold, which has been numerous, they list it as a new date or recent activity. I have letters from the first collection agency back in 94 on all the accounts. Please someone, help me out, my knowledge is limited and I really want to get on track.
