How do I remove a Bankruptcy and Charge offs from my credit?

I filed for bankruptcy on 5/01/93, which shows a "status date" of 08/93 (status discharged.) They always say "7-10 years" on Chapter 7's, but I don't know how to begin working on removing this from my report. Second question .. I have a Visa write off that Best Bank reported on 10/97 that was "sold" to Matrix Capital. The notes on my report state that it has been written off, however the last "reported" was on 12/01. This seems to me that they are still reporting to the bureau, what can I do about this? Last question, how long does it take for write offs, PAID collections, and late payments on revolving cards to be removed from my report, and how do I get them off? Any help would be much appreciated!
