I have had a rollercoaster year. My wife and I had great credit and good jobs. My wife was laid off about 6 months ago and was fighting depression for about a year. She took medication and went to a doctor, but the medication made her worse. She had no motivation to do anything. Meanwhile, I tried to keep things together, but had to pay bills on credit cards and I was finally cut down to part-time on my job. The credit cards were run up and now we are trying to put things back together. My wife has finally beaten the depression and kicked the meds. She got a good job in December. I was now hired to a new company and the pay is pretty good. Unfortunately, our credit is wrecked and I have talked to the CC companies, but what they want is more than what our budget can afford.

This is how everthing breaks down:

We have always paid our utilities, rent, and car pymt on time. Our credit cards are bad.

I have 2 CC's Charged off: both equal 17k.
She has 3 CC's charged off: both equal 22k.

We do not own a house.
I own a car worth $1200.
She has a car that will be paid off in 5 years.
We live in NC

Other than that, nothing of value.

What should my next move be?Should we file BK? Am I judgement proof?I have more questions, but want to take it a step at a time.

Thank YOu
