I am having the exact same problem with Gulf State Credit. They keep reporting me for a bill from 1996 that I do not owe. I have faxed them over 20 times and twice was told that they would remove this from my credit report...but it keeps returning. When Gulf State calls me back, they refuse to give me their phone number so that I can follow-up with them. Do you have a phone number for them other than 800-619-3419? This 800 number just tells you to fax the dispute. I also filed a complaint at www.ftc.org....but I need this removed a.s.a.p as I am trying to get an equity line of credit. Since Gulf State has so many complaints can't something be done?
