If this is a corporate card, were the charges for the company you worked for and NOT paid by the company - OR - your individual charges. If the amount is for emloyer expenses isn't the employer responsible? If this account is still in-house (not collection agency) the Federal laws do not apply. However, if it is a collection agency that is ruthlessly pursuing you - YOU CAN DEMAND - that they cease communicating to you by phone and that all communications must be in writing. Do not give these dirty hounds any information. Best do that in writing by certified mail, return receipt for documentation purposes. Also, did you make a written agreement as to how much you would pay per month (if so, hold them to it or at least try). And if, by chance, you were only a authorized user on this account I believe you are not responsible for this debt - although collection agencies lie to you about this. Don't know what your situation is (separation, divorce, etc.?) but I think TX is community property state meaning everything is 50-50 - if you have an attorney I would investigate what remedies are available to you.
