Threats from collection agencies in Canada

I keep receiving calls from one collection agency over a credit card debt of 2091.10. She keeps threatening to sue me, if I don't pay the full amount now!, can she do this. I have a mortgage on my house that is in good condition, and I have a crappy car. She tells me she's going to take my house, or at least screw up my mortgage situation. Can she? I've received a letter from her that a summons will be issued in 48 hours but nothing has happened and it's a week later. Does she actually have grounds to sue me? I talked to her yesterday, and she yelled at me numorous times saying I had a little brain, and what kind of morals am I sending to my children, obviously she was trying to tick me off and she suceeded. She told me to get a loan from a bank with a co-signer and just pay off the debt. Like it's that easy. Does anyone think I should do that? Should I call the credit card company themselves to see If they will settle things with me? Do you think they would consider it? Are the laws for Canada similar to the ones in the States for these situations? Does anyone know of a Canadian website that can help me? PLEASE HELP
