Hi, I had absolutely NO idea that Chase Manahattan Bank was in a lawsuit. I just found out today. I got a letter/check from them about some Mayamura vs. Chase Manahattan Bank USA, N.A. class action settlement. I got a check for 86 cents. I have a question. When situations such as this happens and a person(s) receives a check for disbursement, is that person(s) still required to pay the company for the debt that was accrued on their credit card? Like I have been unemployed for several months now and my card issued by them has been maxed out for quite some time now. I have been unable to make any payments and like my balance of what they say I owe is like over $2K (two thousand dollars). The limit on my card is only $500 (five hundred dollars). Do I still have to pay that even though I didn't even charge it. I only charged $500 on my card and then never used it again. I wouldn't mind paying what I charged on it, that's when I get a job. But as far as the thousands of dollars they charged on my card, I have a real big problem with that. Could someone please respond? Email me at intellifreedom@bolt.com
