Correct, I am living in, paying taxes on, as well as association dues, in a place that is for 55 and over. The homestead is the only thing in my name, the deed remains in my father's name who is deceased. A lawyer has advised that due to laws in these places, they do have the option of trying to get someone like me out if they wanted to so therefore said do not change the deed over. This lawyer feels that if bankruptcy trustees should discover that the place is homesteaded with no deed, they can claim it as an asset, not my property even though it is an inherited property and can prove I've been living here as my only home.
