Help!! My account was closed... (long)

This is the situation. Four months ago I applied for nextcard credit card. I was approved. I did a balance transfer to another credit card with my nextcard account. Nextcard screwed up and sent a check for a balanced transfer and cancelled the check. Then they sent out another check. My other credit card company got the first check, charged me a fee for the canceled check, and I was charged for being over my balance because of this.

I called nextcard and the supervisor refused to do anything about it. I told him if he did not fix the situation I was going to pay off my next card balance, and close my account. He still refused.

I let myself cool off, and I decided to write nextcard about this balance transfer screwup. They agreed to send a letter to my other credit card company saying it was nextcards fault about the canceled check.

Then I found out my nextcard account was closed with a balance at consumers request. The supervisor who refused to handle the balance transfer situation took it upon himself to close the account at consumers request. I never requested this!!!! I said I would pay my balance and then close my account.

Now I have a closed account with balance on my credit report. I have heard it is not good to have this on your report. So I called nextcard and asked to have my account opened again. Well I just got a letter from nextcard, they will not reopen my account with a list of reasons from what they found on Transunion. They gave me credit based on my transunion report four months ago!!!!

What should I do? If it is bad to have a closed revolving account with a balance should I somehow persue this further with nextcard, since I never requested to have my account closed?

I want to be careful because I certainly do not want them changing it to closing at grantors request. It seems like creditors can get away with anything.

Should I just forget about this ordeal, get a loan to pay this balance? Or just leave it the way it is, and in time my balance with nextcard will be paid.
