If you are paying a "Collection Agency" for a cc debt that is around a year old and has been charged off, is it going to be kept on your report longer by paying? It seems from the posts here that once they have charged off, your credit is pretty well hosed. Live in TX, and not trying to skirt not paying, but could use the extra money or a reduction on what I am paying them (250.00 on a 4300.00 debt)I have not gotten anything from them in writing and vice versa, that's why I am asking! Thanks much for any advice!
